Pharmakos

Synopsis: A silent couple disembarks on a Greek island where they reenact the ancient Pharmakos ritual, in which ill-fated people were sacrificed in hope of purifying the community.
Laura Vandewynckel
Born in 1986 in West-Flanders, Belgium. A graduate of Germanic Philology from Ghent University, she studied three years of Dramatic Arts and then trained as an animation filmmaker at the RITCS School of Arts Brussels. In 2013 she completed her first stop-motion puppet film “What’s on?” and graduated a year later with the multi-awarded short “Paradise”, a lighthearted yet critical reflection on the ethics of tourism. Currently she works as a freelance director, actor, storyboarder, graphic designer, animator, props and puppet builder for film and TV series and teaches animation film to adults and youngsters.
