The Mountain Tears

Synopsis: A company of stonemasons wanders the Greek mountains during the early stages of the tumultuous 20th century. War, social conflict, the tidal wave of modern capitalism and the hesitant dawn of the socialist ideal are the volatile backdrop of the eventful journey they have to face in order to return to hearth and home. The desperate struggle to find a way back will eventually become their own personal odyssey.
Stelios Charalambopoulos
Born in Athens in 1956, he studied economics and cinematography in Greece and followed post-graduate studies in Paris. He was the publisher of the art magazine “GRAPHI”. In 1988, he co-founded with producer Thanos Lambropoulos and director of photography Yiannis Varvarigos PERIPLUS, a film and TV production company specializing in creative documentaries. He has made documentaries for the Greek Public Television (ERT) and collaborated with several European television channels (RAI, LA SEPT/ARTE, CHANNEL 4). His first feature film was “Hades”, in 1996.
