Dan Georgakas – president georgakas@hotmail.com

Author, educator, historian, and film expert, Dan Georgakas is one of the founders of the New York Greek Film Festival. For decades, since the 90s, he has played a key role in the promotion of Greek film in America. He has written extensively about Greek films in newspapers, magazines, film anthologies, film guides, and academic journals. He is on the editorial board of the acclaimed Cineaste film quarterly. He has served for many years as Director of the Greek American Studies Project at the Center for Byzantine & Modern Greek Studies at Queens College and has taught at Columbia, N.Y.U. and UMass Amherst.

 

Nikos Perakis

One of the leading comedy auteurs in contemporary Greek cinema, Nikos Perakis was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1944 of Greek parents. He studied costume and stage design at the Munich Fine Arts Academy (1962-66) and worked as set designer in minor theatrical and TV productions. After his military service (1966-69) in the “Armed Forces Television” unit, he re-emigrated and worked as set, costume, and production designer for many notable productions in Germany and later in Greece. In 1971 he started writing, directing and producing his own films, first in Germany and then in Greece, where he decided to settle in 2000.

Chancellor’s Lecturer of Sociology at Queens College and recently received the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. He has established the first Oral History Archive for the Greeks of New York and he is the Director of the Hellenic American Project, at Queens College, CUNY. A contemporary poet and artist as well, he is the author of five books of poetry.

Marilena Christodoulou is the Director of Finance & Administration/Chief Financial and Operating Officer of the Rubin Museum of Art, a Himalayan Asian art museum in Chelsea. She was part of the founding team that created the Museum 15 years ago.
Marilena has served on many non-profit boards including 9/11 Environmental Action; was past Vice President of the board of trustees of the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holly Trinity and president of the Cathedral School board. She is currently a director of the Hellenic-American Cultural Foundation and the American Friends of the Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum.
Marilena has had a life long passion for international cinema.

Zafeiris Haitidis is a visual storyteller whose diverse directing experience includes: innovative (multimedia) theatre performances; fashion, dance and music videos; TV cultural shows and educational programs; web-series and documentaries; as well as award-winning short films, which participated in international film festivals and have been screened theatrically. His collaborations include media companies such as Netflix, National Geographic Studios, BBC, Arte, National Film Board of Canada and VICE. Currently, he has many captivating audiovisual projects in the works.

Anthoula Katsimatides is an actor, writer, producer and voice-over artist. She has performed recurring and co-star roles on many network and cable tv shows and films.  She is very proud to be an executive producer of the official documentary on Oscar award winning actress Olympia Dukakis

Paul Krisikos made his Broadway debut at the Roundabout Theater in Arthur Miller’s ‘A View from the Bridge,’ (Tony for best revival) which he also went on to perform at the Neil Simon Theatre. He has appeared on CBS and NBC television shows and was last seen on the big screen in Chekhov’s ‘The Seagull’ starring Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan, and Oscar nominee Annette Bening, directed by Michael Mayer. He has also been involved in writing, directing and producing his own films. Currently, he is co-producing and co-writing a miniseries based on the extraordinary life of Maria Callas.

Costas Picadas was born in Ioannina Greece. He studied art at the Ecole Des Beaux-Arts and art history at the Louvre School in Paris. Picadas’ work has been exhibited, among other places, at Queens Museum- Bulova NY, Budman Gallery NY, Denise Bibro Gallery NY, The Blender Gallery Athens Greece, Gallery Gransart Paris, Mykonos Biennale Greece, The Young Art Fair in Switzerland, Gallery J&J Donguy Paris, Some Young New Yorkers III at PS1 NY, Kappatos Gallery, Athens, Greece, Gallery de Buci Paris, Gallery Anatole Chartres, France, Gallery de Nest Paris, Salon de Montrouge, Paris, W.G.
